چکیده

In this paper we propose a new statistical model for multi-scale traffic, and present an exact queueing analysis for the model. The model is based on the central moments and the marginal distributions of the cumulative traffic loads in different time scales. Only the first two moments are needed to characterize the traffic process, which greatly simplifies the representation and estimation. The queueing analysis uses a very general approach and can evaluate not only the steady state performance but also the transient queueing behavior. The analysis reveals that there exist two classes of packet losses, the absolute loss and the opportunistic loss, both of which can be examined exactly with the method. Based on the statistical model and the queueing analysis method, a compound model is constructed for the practical multiscale traffic, and its performance is evaluated from various aspects. This work provides a good basis for practical application of the mutli-scale traffic characterizations in network dimensioning and resource management.

Long-run performance analysis of a multi-scale TCP traffic model - Communications, IEE Proceedings-

The long-run queueing performance of a multi-scale TCP traffic model, the HOOmodel, is analysed. Since the model links the multi-scale behaviour with practical traffic elements and approximates TCP traffic very well, the analysis is expected to provide insights into the physical interpretation of multi-scale traffic and to give useful results for performance prediction. To derive a meaningful s...

Optimal Design of FPI^λ D^μ based Stabilizers in Hybrid Multi-Machine Power System Using GWO ‎Algorithm

In this paper, the theory and modeling of large scale photovoltaic (PV) in the power grid and its effect on power system stability are studied. In this work, the basic module, small signal modeling and mathematical analysis of the large scale PV jointed multi-machine are demonstrated. The principal portion of the paper is to reduce the low frequency fluctuations by tuned stabilizer in the atten...

Multi-time-Scale Traffic Modeling Using Markovian and L-Systems Models

Traffic engineering of IP networks requires the characterization and modeling of network traffic on multiple time scales due to the existence of several statistical properties that are invariant across a range of time scales, such as selfsimilarity, LRD and multifractality. These properties have a significant impact on network performance and, therefore, traffic models must be able to incorpora...

Different Network Performance Measures in a Multi-Objective Traffic Assignment Problem

Traffic assignment algorithms are used to determine possible use of paths between origin-destination pairs and predict traffic flow in network links. One of the main deficiencies of ordinary traffic assignment methods is that in most of them one measure (mostly travel time) is usually included in objective function and other effective performance measures in traffic assignment are not considere...
